February Feature
Farmers Oil Company was
started in the late 1960's by Ray Graves. He hauled produce cross
country, and fuel to area farmers and CO-Ops.
During the 1970's his son Larry went to
work for him as a driver and eventually started his own fleet under
Larry Graves Trucking, which consisted of 10 trucks. Larry then got out
of the truck went into the office to dispatch trucks with Ray.
On Farmer’s Oil Co is considered a family owned business because everybody owns a truck. Ray still has two trucks and four propane trailers that he leases to Farmer’s Oil, Larry and Donna’s son Jeremey has 11 trucks and trailers leased to the company, and their daughter, Julie Martin, also has four trucks and trailers leased to the company. Jeremey, owner of our
February feature truck, ‘Liquid Assets,’ runs the Anthony, KS location
and is the dispatcher at Farmer’s Oil Co. Inc. Jeremey has been trucking
his all his life; starting on the lap of his father Larry when he was
just a baby, and as a young boy, he rode in the bulk truck with his
Granddad.
After college Jeremey took to the wheel
himself and drove his own truck.
Now days Jeremey and his wife Jessica have
their own children to prop up behind the wheel: Abbey, Natalie, Zachery,
and Emalie.
They all seem to have
taken a liking to the business and if it sticks, they will make up the 5th
generation of the Jeremey also runs a blog
called Bucket List on BlogSpot.
