Feature... Oldland Distributing Inc.,
Central Point, OR 1980 Peterbilt 359
Oldland Distributing was started in
the early 1970's by Jim Oldland. Before that Jim put himself through
college, at SOC in Ashland, OR, driving truck. He purchased his
first truck in 1971. That's what started the beginning of Jim's
lifelong adventure in the transportation industry.
Oldland started as a flatbed hauler on the Oregon coast. The company soon
moved onto hauling produce and frozen food throughout the western
states. Oldland Distributing's growth has been steady over the past
forty years. The company's goad has always been to provide highly
qualified, professional drivers, with well-maintained equipment, and
the highest safety rating possible, while offereing outstanding
customer service.
Today the fleet consists of 35 Peterbilt's and 70 trailers,
including reefers, dry vans, and taunt liners. In the early years,
Jim bought nothing but new trucks because Jim's father always told
him, "If you can't afford a new truck, you can't afford one at all."
It was not until the 90's that he began buying a few used trucks.
Building glider kits and doing restoration has always been Jim's
real passion.
The most recent restoration is truck number 18 which is a 1980
Peterbilt and is the first new conventional of the fleet. When it
reached 2.5 million miles Jim decided it was time for a restoration.
So, truck number 18 was completly disassembled and rebuilt from top
to bottom. The initial restoration was done by Ron Stoen and our
outstanding Oldland shop crew. Then it was taken to Commercial
Collision for the paint and body work to be done. "Thank you to
Bill, Dave, and LIsa Abernethy, as well as Bob Perry for all of your
had work!"
We have appreciated the opportunity to serve our loyal customers
over teh years that have become a part of the Oldland family. We
also couldn't have done it without our committed drivers. So when
you see and Oldland drivers be sure to wave and say hello.
