November 2014 Feature...
In partnership with his father, Willem milks 6,000 cows on two
dairies. They also grow alfalfa, winter wheat and corn on the farm’s
3,500 acres. Willem has served on the Western Area Council since its
formation, chairs the Area’s Marketing and Transportation Committee
and is a member of the California Environmental Justice Fund. He
previously served on the boards of Farm Bureau Federation’s Young
Farmers & Ranchers program, California’s Milk Producers Council and
on the Tulare chapter of the Antique Historical Truck Society. In
2000, Willem was named an Outstanding Young Farmer & Rancher for
California and was among the top four in the United States for Farm
Bureau’s Outstanding Young Farmer & Rancher. The De Boers’ dairies
received Business of the Year in 2007 and the family was named a DFA
Member of Distinction in 2008.
